Blogging Alongside PureLeverage





When I started Blogging, I wasn't sure where it was going to take me, or even if it would take me anywhere. I was totally clueless to the whole online world, and even moreso about online marketing!

Sleep!! I Need You…


Everyone experiences trouble sleeping once in a while, I for one have been having more than a few issues with this. When occasional sleepless nights turn into a regular occurrence of many nights in a row with interrupted sleep, then you, like me, may have a sleeping problem.
When you don’t get enough sleep for an extended period of time your tiredness impacts every part of your life. Physically, you might notice a decrease in your productivity and daily activities. Emotionally, you may experience relationship problems or a change in your personality. Mentally, a chronic sleep problem can create stress and anxiety.

There are three categories of sleep deprivation and insomnia. The first stage, called “initial” insomnia, is when you first realise you’re having difficulty achieving a sleep state and occurs when it takes longer than a half an hour to fall asleep. “Middle” insomnia is when you have difficulty staying asleep. Once awakened, you stay awake into the early hours of the morning. The most severe level of insomnia is “late” or “terminal” insomnia. This is when you wake up early in the morning and stay awake after sleeping less than 6 hours.

Habits at Bedtime

It is essential that your brain has consistency by creating a bedtime schedule so that your body can learn how to fall asleep without medication. Create a sleep strategy to determine the best routine, and plan to follow the routine for one to two weeks before making any alterations.
Moving through a regular bedtime process will signal to your brain that it’s time to go to sleep. The desired end result of having a sleep strategy is regular sleep that’s restful and refreshing.
Plan to get 7-8 hours of sleep nightly, and don’t allow yourself to oversleep. If you wake up the same time every day you’ll soon establish a routine.

Your Sleep Environment

In addition to a regular bedtime schedule, another important factor to consider is your environment. The more comfortable and relaxing your sleep space is, the better your chances for falling asleep and staying asleep.
Here are some of the things I have found helpful.
  • Get rid of all annoyances and interruptions. There is nothing worse than trying to fall asleep whilst there is activity or distractions around you. Some may find this hard to do but, turn your mobile phone off!! I did, I always made up excuses for why I needed to leave it on. Having a TV in your bedroom can be a comfort to have, but turn that off too.
  • Control the room temperature. Having cooler air is typically more comfortable for sleep, but don’t have it to the point where you’re spending the night trying to warm yourself up. Overheating yourself is also a hindrance to sleeping…and waking up sweaty, YUK!
  • Room ventilation. Crack a window slightly to allow for air flow. The circulating fresh air will help you breathe deeply, and provide oxygen that is essential for good sleep. I had it recommended to me to sleep on 2 pillows as it helps to open the airways.
  • Try using a CD player to play soothing background music. This can be good for some, but I found that I’d have a certain playlist set for nighttime and waited for my favourite to play. I can hear some of you saying “Well put that song first” the problem with that was ALL the songs on my playlist were favourites J
  • Your circadian rhythm, (“circadian” has been a word I have loved the sound of since I was little and seen Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, a well-known Australian Science communicator, do an ad on TV and was talking about microsleeps) your body’s internal clock, relies on light and dark patterns to determine when to signal your body to fall asleep. Keep your room as dark as possible to help your body settle into a sleep state. Use mini-blinds and thick curtains to block light from windows. Try wearing an eye mask to block any remaining light.
  • Make clocks less visible. Having a clock by your bedside might be adding to your sleep problem. If you are watching the clock all night long, face it toward the wall so that you can’t see the time. Constantly looking at the clock only makes you think about sleep, and lack of sleep, which continues the cycle of sleeplessness.

  • Comfortable sleepwear. Wear the most comfortable clothing you own. Non-constrictive clothing won’t wake you in the middle of the night.


Physical Activity

Getting exercise during the day is an important factor in how well you sleep at night. If you are physically active during the day, your body will be able to relax and fall asleep easier. Exercise helps your body deal with daily stress and anxiety. It impacts the chemicals in your brain, and how much you exercise is directly linked to your physical and emotional health. Regular exercise will help you fall asleep and maintain a sleep state because your sleep cycles become more consistent and the transition between them becomes more seamless. Try to work exercise into your life daily to avoid sleeplessness.

When getting physical activity, plan to exercise more than 3-4 hours before bedtime. For the best sleep benefit, be physically active in the late afternoon or early evening.
If adding 30 minutes of exercise into your daily schedule is too tough, try adding small blocks of physical activity. Making small changes, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or purposely parking further away from your destination will help you live a healthy, energetic life.

Physical activity is something that not all can manage due to injuries, disabilities or lifestyle. Another simple and free alternative is breathing techniques, though this can also be incorporated with meditation. Breathing is the simplest and easiest way to find complete relaxation and stress reduction. The more deeply you breathe, the more serene you will become. The following relaxation tips have been what I have found to work the best for me and help my body wind down and get ready for sleep. This is a big part of my nightly routine and who knows, maybe it could help you.

Before going to bed try this relaxation technique.
Lie down with your back to the floor and your arms at your side, palms facing upward. Your feet should be comfortably apart. With your eyes closed, mentally concentrate on each part of your body, tensing then releasing each group of muscles. Starting at the top of your head, release tension as you move slowly down your body. Feel your forehead, eyes and mouth. Work through your shoulders, neck and back. Move down to your toes, then bask in the relaxed state you have achieved. Focus on your breathing, making sure breath is coming from your stomach. Breathe deeply and slowly, letting go of all your concerns and stress. When your body knows it’s okay to let go of your worries and stressors, you’ll be able to go to sleep naturally.

When you first get into bed;
Lie down and breathe deeply through your nose. Imagine the air moving into your stomach. On your next inhale, breathe in for four counts. Exhale slowly through your pursed lips, while counting to eight. You will feel the tension leave your body with every exhale. Repeat this technique six to ten times for immediate relaxation. Practice deep breathing daily to develop a healthy habit of regular relaxation. Calming your mind will help you fall asleep.
There are many other techniques for breathing and relaxation. Through your own experimentation and practice, you can find one that works well for you.

Over the years of insomnia being a regular visitor to both myself and one of my sons, I did some research into natural products that can assist with overcoming temporary sleeping dilemmas.

I’m certainly not a doctor, and as with any medical concern, don’t hesitate to contact your GP to discuss your sleep problems and determine if your symptoms may be related to your general health. Your physician can guide you through traditional channels, as well as the natural remedies detailed in the book. The main priorities are handling your sleep-related problems, and protecting your overall health.

Ordinarily, I load my posts up with sentence after sentence....tonight I thought I would do something a little different. As regular readers know, I went through a pretty bad patch but managed to crawl my way back out of it and see the better side of things. Get Your Kids To Sleep, First Time!



Every parent has had nights where their young children have kept them up, often for hours and hours on end. I remember when my youngest was born I managed to run on autopilot more than anything else. I had 3 under 3yrs and it would seem that the moment I got them settled, one would wake up, resulting in the others waking up to. It's the ultimate nightmare; you end up short on sleep for your busy day, and you're constantly worrying about how your child is feeling. Depression - It Can Happen To Anyone

This isn’t along the lines of the normal blog posts I put up, but I feel that I should....mainly because I experienced this a little more than I wanted to, I like to class myself as a motivator, as someone who inspires others to soldier on, and lately I haven't been able to motivate myself...I was the one that was in need. 

I’m 100% sure that there are others out there that don’t, or feel they can’t, for whatever reason, speak up, and I hope that by the end of this, I've helped you to take that first step…

What am I referring to?

Depression…hitting rock bottom...feeling like the world has caved in on top of you!

That was me a few weeks ago and what I’m still
determined to work through and beat!

The brief rundown of it all was after separating from the kids’ father, I was dealing with multiple teenage children (2 sons, 1 daughter), and we all know what they can get like in their teen years, hell I was one! I kept thinking I was coping with it all great, but then things started to escalate. I wasn’t handling the teenager’s antics and the ensuing arguments between us led them to wanting to go their own way…..I kinda don’t blame them, only kinda though. My daughter ended up living at her boyfriends (and having her boyfriends family assault and threaten my 17yr old and I), my youngest teenage son went to live with his father, while my elder teenage son stayed at home and took on the attitude that he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Income dropped, bills started to pile up, and an added debt of $7256 from helping what I thought was a friend, had started to fade the light at the end of the tunnel. After it had once looked bright, it now started to fade off into the distance.

I was a proud person, I had lived independently since I was about 15/16, and I guess the stubborn nature I seem to possess, has never really let me ask for help if things went to shit, this time was no different.

I hid the fact that I was not coping from everyone, including my best friend, I would go to her house for coffee and act as if everything was peachy. (I had that act pretty down pat). Little did she know that when I went home I used to go into my room and sit there and cry, not knowing how to fix the predicament I had gotten myself into. Not only had the bills begun to pile up, the rent wasn’t getting paid in full each week. I had fought to get my home for my children and I could feel that I was losing it all…you’d think I would ask for help hey?!


Nope, too proud, too independent…actually too stubborn with a little bit of embarrassment thrown in with it too. I had never lost a premises due to my own doing, I had never had the eviction paperwork staring me in the face, but here it was….in plain black and white. Still, I did nothing, I thought if I pretended it didn’t exist, then it wouldn’t.

My eldest teenage son had stayed with me after his siblings left, but I knew the eviction was looming and all I cared about was getting him into a place to live. I’d sort me out later. I got him settled into his new place and it was when I returned home to a completely empty house, (even my dogs, my best mates, weren’t there to greet me anymore) that everything hit me and I ended up a crumbling mess.

I don’t remember packing the car, I don’t remember driving 300+kms and I don’t remember too much of what happened when my car finally died…what I do remember is sitting there with the morphine in hand, ready to kiss it all goodbye. I played out in my head what would happen if I followed through with it, and that’s probably what saved me. I pictured my kids being told what I had done and it broke my heart even more then I thought possible. How could I be so selfish to even consider putting them through that?

Thankfully good friends had found me (added bonus to being such a traveller and having friends in most Australian States) and after spending the night talking, I made my way back home the next day to try and get a grip on what needed to be done. I wouldn’t have been able to do that it if wasn’t for my best friend and my 17yr old son.

It didn’t change too much coming back, I lost my house, I still don’t have contact with my daughter, she had gotten worse and set her boyfriend’s family out to attack me and my 17yr old, but what I gained was the ability to deal with the situation a lot better than I had before. I had found that speaking up and admitting that things aren’t going right, is NOT a bad thing, I learnt that with family and friends, working through the issues at hand are a lot easier to cope with, and not everything is as overwhelming or useless as I had previously thought.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I don’t want anyone to feel like that is the only option out there. There are help access lines that can be called (some I've found are located below) emergency departments that can assist and community service programs available that can help you climb back up that ladder.

Luckily for me, the mere thought of my children having to deal with it, was what got me to realise “Hey shit, I need to ask for help!” Not everyone is that strong, or has that to focus on in times like that, sometimes the brain won’t even let us process that thought when we’re upset, but if the signs can be recognized early enough, then help can be sought before it gets too late and you feel that helpless, unworthy feeling.


I’m not an expert on depression, far from it, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all but if you feel that you aren’t coping, or feel like everyday life is starting to get too much for you, then PLEASE, I urge you to go and speak to someone about it. If you don’t feel confident or comfortable talking to a doctor, start with family and friends. Be upfront with them as they may know of other avenues that can assist you the best.

Google Sniper - Traffic Generation Not Required!

It’s always refreshing to see new strategies to make money online. However, the majority of the time I’m pretty disappointed with the results.
Until now.....
When I was recommended to buy Google Sniper, I thought it would be another system that just left me disappointed, but the proof and success stories tipped me to buy it. A quick Google search for testimonials and by watching the sales video it was clear that this system has worked wonders for other people, and it’s actually generated the most online success stories than any other system/course to date. It was a no brainer to give it a shot personally.
At the time in my Internet marketing journey, I was pretty lost as to what road to head down. Google Sniper really outlays the basics, from picking a niche, choosing keywords, buying a domain to setting up a wordpress website which will generate passive income online. It’s an extensive guide, but it’s easy to pick up (the walkthrough videos by George help also).

I studied the strategy pretty extensively to start with, and created my first “Sniper” site the next day. I was pretty excited due to the success stories, but still had that common doubt that it would be another blowout. I made my first bit of commission two weeks later after setting up the site completely. It wasn’t a huge amount but it was something, and that was the trigger to skim through the course once more to see if I could improve my site in anyway. The site in question started to generate me a tidy amount of commission, and still generates on average $375 a month (on autopilot).
As I’ve been recommended many times before, “if something works duplicate it…” And that’s what I did. I now have about 10 sniper sites, all generating commission each month. Each site differs in the amount of money I’m making, but I can’t squabble as I’m on the hunt for more…

(No Joke---and tips to master the system)

I've been researching factual methods to both earn and save money for years now. One odd and counter-intuitive method I discovered, was earning money using online topic and opinion surveys. I admit it...just the sound of the phonetics smacks of fraud, deceit, and valuable time wasted. I freely confess..I was one of the unbelieving masses. $90 to complete a five minute survey? Who was publishing this stuff--David Hannum? My mind was soon changed however--changed by cold, hard cash.

Rewind 6 years ago. I was planning my wedding and my soon-to be bride was determined to have the wedding of the century. Never the proponent of the almighty splurge, I suggested the modest (read: cheap-olah) approach. She would have none of it. So after I emptied my meager savings account, I was on the prowl for more ways to rake in it before the big day. Having already found success selling gift-cards that I earned from rewards programs like My Coke Rewards, related web-searching brought me upon my first survey website, Panda Research. It claimed to be a research survey site that collects consumer opinions regarding products for major companies. In return for answers to some quick questions, Panda rewards the surveyor with real cash via PayPal. With the day of hitching fast approaching, I cracked my knuckles, fired up my personal info, and created an account.
 Aww. Cute, endangered and profitable.

Sign-up was straightforward. I entered the basic information form, giving my consent to the Terms of Use. I completed a quick demographic survey (designed to better tailor surveys to me as an individual).

Just for completing this opening survey, they rewarded me with $5. After a week or two of completing surveys, I earned enough for a pay-out to my Paypal account. As of today, here are my earnings:

Some offers I didn’t complete sufficiently to qualify for the payout (I didn’t qualify for a Discover Card. Boo.) But this site still enticed me with what I could potentially earn, as well as reporting what I actually earned.

Interested? Here's how I did it, with some tricks o’ the trade on how to be profitable.

Sites like Panda Research offer different ways to complete surveys. The major types are Opinion Surveys, Specialized Surveys, and Investment offers. The most common is the Opinion Survey. Which soda do you prefer? Which dish liquid gets down on grease the hardest? Would you prefer a $50 or $100 Best Buy Gift Card?

Specialized surveys are medical surveys, vacation surveys, etc. They even have Video offers where you can watch quick 30 sec videos, record an in-movie numerical code, and then report that code for cash. Aside from needing an email, all of these surveys are 100% free.

The more lucrative surveys involve signing up for a trial offer, or outright subscribing to a service (Publishers Clearing House, Gamefly, etc).

Now that you know about the 3 main types of surveys offered at Panda Research and similar sites, here are my tips and tricks to earn actual cash.

1. Regardless of the type of survey, always use a throwaway email or, as was my case, an email created just for survey sites. Trust me on this one.

2. For opinion surveys, you don't have to actually complete any offers! At some point, the survey will begin throwing inquiry surveys at you (interested in diabetes medication or car insurance?). The YES, NO, and ENTER EMAIL buttons are huge, colored and centered on the page. But if you scroll down, you'll find the word SKIP printed very small. Click it and you can get to the last part of this survey in seconds. The last 2-3 parts of this survey type involves completing qualifying offers in order to earn cash for the survey.
Again...there is no need to do any of that. At the bottom of these last pages, it will say, " After you have completed qualifying offers above, click here to continue". Simply be obedient and click the work CONTINUE, and you can complete the survey and earn the cash.

3. Specialized surveys are cut and dry, but no one says you have divulge personal information. I select totally random check-boxes and whiz through these. The only caveat is the timing. Some surveys will disqualify if you complete them too fast. So be mindful.

4. Finally, investment surveys are all about weighing buy-in versus payout. In the case of a trial subscription, they are usually just $1. I would wait 3 days for the offer cash to hit my account, and then call and cancel the trial. I've never had a problem with this method. In the case of Pay-to-play, it's all about how much the purchase is for compared to how much the survey site pays out. I recall a magazine subscription cost me $15 up front, but the survey site paid out $20. In that case, I was up by $5 and got a magazine script.

Again, the payouts can be issued via PayPal, check, or even debit card. All survey sites have a minimum payout threshold (usually $30), and a 30-day wait period for the first payout to arrive in your cash-ready mitts. You won't get rich doing surveys, and there is the issue of boredom, but here's a send-off tip: Open multiple accounts and do exactly the same surveys.
